Discount

Would you like to learn how to get a discount on practically anything? From discount tires to discount tickets, from discount furniture to discount shoes, learning how to save is fun and easy.

Getting a Discount Online

The online world is a wonder when it comes saving money. Why? There are two major reasons: research at your fingertips and coupon codes.

Let us say that you want to get discount tires. You can use the web to search for the best make and model for your car, as a first step. Once you know exactly what you are looking for, research where to get them at the lowest price. There are many websites that will allow you to compare prices, or you can simply do a search of your favorite stores. Once you know exactly where to get your discount tires, you are home free.

A little time spent on the Internet can mean big savings. This is especially true when you are looking for discount tickets for anything from a shoe to a flight.

Now let’s talk about coupon codes. This time you want to find discount shoes. You already know what you want and where you want to buy them. Now your research takes a different turn. Do a search on the brand name plus the words “coupon codes.” You can find ones that are good for a percentage off, a dollar amount off or free shipping.

Getting a Discount in the Store

There are some things that you just don’t want to buy online. A good example is a new living room set. Discount furniture is usually best had when you visit a showroom. Big pieces can be expensive to ship, and it is nice to see what is available right there in front of you.

In the case of shopping directly, there are two ways that I like to save. The first is buy using coupons and the second is by haggling or asking for a discount.

Major stores often issue coupons for their products. There are different types available, from coupons in the mail to printable coupons. Get on the company or store mailing list to take advantage of these.

Everything in practically any store is negotiable, even major chain stores. Start by asking for a discount or the best that the manager can do on the item. Usually the store is willing to work with you and give you something, from lowering the price to offering free delivery.

There are certain rules to haggling that will make you more likely to succeed, such as being nice, finding out prices at comparable stores and being willing to walk away if you don’t get the deal that you want.

Good Tip: Saving money is important – especially if you have a lot of expenses like bills to pay, loans to pay off, and all the other things that drain your bank account. Figuring out a way to save money can feel tedious to some, and like a punishment to others. U.S. News suggests that you try one of these money saving challenges. The “No Eating Out for a Month” Challenge This one is self-explanatory. The goal is to avoid eating out for an entire month. This might be super easy for people who enjoy making meals at home. People who really enjoy dining out, or ordering food to be sent to their home, may struggle with this one. It’s worth a try because spending money on take-out is more expensive than buying groceries. The Pantry Challenge This one is a variation of the “No Eating Out for a Month” challenge. The goal is to use up all of your groceries before you buy more. It forces you to try and remember why you bought a food or beverage that you don’t know what to do with, and gives you the opportunity to find a way to use it. The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
