Guayaki makes organic Yerba Mate. It comes from the South American rainforest holly tree. Yerba Mate has “the strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the euphoria of chocolate” all in one beverage. Guayaki makes Yerba Mate tea bags, in a variety of flavors. They also make Loose-Leaf Yerba Mate. Traditionally, Yerba Mate is something that people drink from a gourd and with the use of a bombilla. Guayaki sells those, too. They have a line of Yerba Mate that is bottled. Flavors include Traditional Mate, Unsweetened Mate, peach, mint, pomegranate, raspberry, citrus, and more. They also make a line of sparkling Yerba Mate that comes in cans. You can purchase Guayaki products from their website. Prices range from about $7.00 for a box of tea, around $30.00 for a gourd, to about $40.00 for a case of 13 bottled Yerba Mate drinks. They also sell t-shirts for about $10.00.
Foods that are organic were grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, or ionizing radiation. Organic foods are GMO free. Yerba Mate has Vitamin A, (which is good for the eyes) and Vitamin C, (which helps with immune deficiencies and helps your body absorb calcium). It also contains Vitamins E, B1, B2, Niacin (B3), B5, and B Complex. It also has Calcium, Manganese, Iron, Selenium, Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, and Zinc. Guayaki has its headquarters in Sebastopol, California. There is a really good description on the Guayaki website about the Sharing the Mate Gourd ceremony, for those who want to participate.
