Natural Cleaning Products Made with Ingredients You Have at Home

 It's simple and fun to make your cleaning products right at home and best of all, you probably have all the ingredients on hand already!Do you find yourself spending way too much money on cleaning supplies? Cleaning products can be very expensive, especially if you prefer to use natural cleaning products without all the toxic chemicals. Luckily, you don’t need to spend unnecessary money anymore! It’s simple and fun to make your cleaning products right at home and best of all, you probably have all the ingredients on hand already!

DIY Cleaning Products

Here are some ingredients you’ll need to make some homemade cleaning products:

  • white vinegar
  • baking soda
  • lemons and/or lemon juice
  • salt
  • olive oil
  • Ivory bar soap
  • liquid dishwashing soap
  • washing soda
  • borax
  • essential oils

Look at all these wonderful, natural cleaning products we can make with the items above:

Degreaser

1/2 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup baking soda
5 to 10 drops citrus essential oils

Dusting Spray

1 cup distilled water
3 drops essential oils

Scrub

1 cup baking soda
1/4 cup salt
10 drops citrus essential oil
5 drops tea tree essential oil

Shower Spray

1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol
1 1/2 cups of filtered boiled water
10-15 drops of thieves essential oil or tea tree essential oil
1 tsp of salt

Drain Cleaner

Dissolve ½ cup salt in about 4 liters of hot water

Furniture Polish

Combine equal parts olive oil and lemon juice

Glass Cleaner

1 1/2 cups vinegar
1 1/2 cups water
5-10 drops essential oil (optional)

All Purpose Cleaning Spray

1 tablespoon borax
1 tablespoon washing soda
1 teaspoon dishwashing soap
1 cup vinegar
4 cups hot water
25-30 drops essential oil (optional)

Floor Cleaner

1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup baking soda
8-10 cups hot water
1 tablespoon borax
1 tablespoon washing soda
30 drops essential oil (optional)

Toilet Bowl Cleaner:

1 cup baking soda
1 cup vinegar
10 drops essential oil (optional)

The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
