We are constantly reminded that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Not only does it cure the 8-hour hunger our bodies have endured while sleeping, but it jump starts our metabolisms and gets us filled with vitamins and nutrients to start the day right. The great thing about breakfast is that there are so many options to choose from. Unfortunately, many aren’t picking the right one. With busy lifestyles and the tempting smell of sugary baked goods at our local coffee shops, it’s easy to eat something that will get us started on the wrong foot.

One easy way to get healthy, proper nutrients in the morning is to eat a complete hot meal. That’s why the Jimmy Dean Company started celebrating National Hot Breakfast Month during the month of February! Throughout February, you can celebrate by serving up several breakfast favorites like pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and so much more!

There are also several natural and organic options for breakfast. With eggs, choose organic varieties. Organic chickens fed a vegetarian, organic diet and are free from hormones and antibiotics. You can scramble up some eggs and season with your favorite herbs or add some organic vegetables and make an omelet. If you’re crunched for time, bake a quiche during the weekend and keep it refrigerated throughout the week. You can quickly cut a slice, eat it up and be on your way out the door.

You can also buy organic varieties of your favorite breakfast meats. Be sure to check the sodium content on these. Many cured meats are packed with salt, which can act as a preservative.

To round out the meal, look for organic pancake mixes or simply make your own. This way, you’ll have more control over what goes inside. You can even dress them up and add fresh, organic fruits, nuts, or chocolate chips. The possibilities are endless!
