How skilled are you at pumpkin carving? It might be a little bit too early to start decorating with carved pumpkins. This means you have time to figure out what design you want to carve and how to do it. Use some free pumpkin caving stencils, that you can download and print out, to make the job even easier! Here are a few places to find some good designs.
Classic and Historical Designs
History.com has 24 different printable pumpkin stencils. Turn on your printer. Select the pattern you want to use on your pumpkin. Print the design. All can be accessed for free.
There are 8 “simple” patterns to choose from. These include classic pumpkin faces (in a variety of expressions). They also have bats, a cat, a ghost, and more. There are also “advanced” patterns for those who are rather skilled at pumpkin carving. You could carve a pumpkin with an image of George Washington, an American flag, the Statue of Liberty, Ben Franklin, or other historical designs.
Disney Characters
Disney’s Family.com has free, printable, pumpkin stencils that feature a wide variety of Disney characters. You could make your pumpkin look like Jack Skellington or Maleficent’s Dragon!
Other, less Halloween-like designs include characters from Mickey & Friends, Winnie the Pooh and Friends, Kermit, Rapunzel, and more. What’s your child’s favorite Disney character?
Designs and a “How-To”
Is this your first time carving a pumpkin? Has it been so long since you last carved one that you can’t quite remember exactly how to do it? Martha Stewart has got you covered! Scroll towards the bottom of her website, and you will find a tutorial that shows you how to carve a pumpkin.
While you are there, browse through the 46 different pumpkin templates that range from traditional to whimsical, and simple to complex. You can mix and match different designs for eyes and mouths to create a uniquely designed carved pumpkin.
From Simple to More Advanced
