CoffeeWhat goes on sale in September? There will be discounts on some things that you might not have expected. Some of the best things to buy in September are items that started to go on sale in August. Now is your last chance to get them before they disappear! Other things that you should buy this month will definitely increase in price if you wait until next month to make your purchase.

Plane Tickets
Will your family be spending the upcoming holiday season with family that lives far away from you? Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two most popular days to travel in the entire year. Plan ahead and purchase plane tickets this month. You will save money on them. The price of the ticket you need will go up as we get closer to the holiday season.

How many pairs of jeans did you kids need for the new school year? Could you use a few new pairs yourself? Jeans (and other denim clothing) tend to go on sale in September. The stores want to reduce their stock of denim back down to what it was before the back-to-school sales. The weather may be too warm for jeans where you are living right now. Give it a few weeks, and the weather will cool. That’s the perfect weather for jeans!

School Supplies
The back-to-school sales have been going on for a while now. Typically, stores will knock down the price on school supplies (again) immediately after the Labor Day weekend is over. September is a good time to stock up on extra paper, pencils, pens, and other school supplies that your kids will run out of a few months from now.

This year, National Coffee Day will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2013. It is very likely that coffee shops, and grocery stores, will have plenty of sales on coffee this month. Check the website or the Facebook page of your favorite place to buy coffee. There is a good chance that they will have at least one day where they will give out “freebies”. You will probably find plenty of coupons for coffee in September.

Small Appliances
Toasters, blenders, mixers, and other small kitchen appliances go on sale in September. Coffee lovers, who have been wanting to buy a Keurig, Verisimo, or other type of coffee maker will probably be able to get it for a nice price in September.

Good Tip: Saving money is important – especially if you have a lot of expenses like bills to pay, loans to pay off, and all the other things that drain your bank account. Figuring out a way to save money can feel tedious to some, and like a punishment to others. U.S. News suggests that you try one of these money saving challenges. The “No Eating Out for a Month” Challenge This one is self-explanatory. The goal is to avoid eating out for an entire month. This might be super easy for people who enjoy making meals at home. People who really enjoy dining out, or ordering food to be sent to their home, may struggle with this one. It’s worth a try because spending money on take-out is more expensive than buying groceries. The Pantry Challenge This one is a variation of the “No Eating Out for a Month” challenge. The goal is to use up all of your groceries before you buy more. It forces you to try and remember why you bought a food or beverage that you don’t know what to do with, and gives you the opportunity to find a way to use it. The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
