Mother’s Day has passed us by for this year.  This gives you plenty of time to come up with a beautiful, and inexpensive, gift to give your mom next Mother’s Day.  Usually, stores start putting things on sale after a holiday has passed.  For some reason, Mother’s Day deals start in the weeks before Mother’s Day weekend.  Right after Mother’s Day is the time to get some “steals” on the same items that cost much more right before the holiday.

It can be really nice to go out and celebrate Mother’s Day with you mom.  The very next day is when to start looking for Mother’s Day deals and steals!  Check your local Hallmark store, or the card aisle in your grocery store, to find discounts on Mother’s Day cards.

Hallmark will also have some specialized Mother’s Day frames, decorations, and knick-knacks that will be sold for a much lower price now that Mother’s Day has passed by for this year.  Store these items away, and you will have cute and inexpensive gifts for mom all ready to go for next year!

Does your mother enjoy receiving hand made gifts?  A lot of people feel that a hand made gift shows extra love because the person who made it had to put in some effort and time in order to create the gift.

Now is a good time to pick up the craft items that you will need for next year’s Mother’s Day gift.  Get some soft yarn in her favorite color, and knit your mom a scarf or blanket.  Pick up a kit that is designed for kids to use to make a customized frame, or to place their handprint onto something.  Craft stores, like Michaels, are a good place to find deals on craft stuff.

What’s your mom’s favorite restaurant?  It has become a tradition to take mom out to dinner on Mother’s Day.  If your mom really likes a restaurant that happens to be a nationwide chain, then try this little trick.  Sign up for the club, or email club, or members club for that restaurant right now.  You will start getting coupons for that restaurant in your email, several times a year.  When next Mother’s Day arrives, you will be among the first to get a coupon for a free meal or a nice discount off dinner at your mom’s favorite place to dine out!

Good Tip: Saving money is important – especially if you have a lot of expenses like bills to pay, loans to pay off, and all the other things that drain your bank account. Figuring out a way to save money can feel tedious to some, and like a punishment to others. U.S. News suggests that you try one of these money saving challenges. The “No Eating Out for a Month” Challenge This one is self-explanatory. The goal is to avoid eating out for an entire month. This might be super easy for people who enjoy making meals at home. People who really enjoy dining out, or ordering food to be sent to their home, may struggle with this one. It’s worth a try because spending money on take-out is more expensive than buying groceries. The Pantry Challenge This one is a variation of the “No Eating Out for a Month” challenge. The goal is to use up all of your groceries before you buy more. It forces you to try and remember why you bought a food or beverage that you don’t know what to do with, and gives you the opportunity to find a way to use it. The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
