All natural, homemade skin care treatments are not only good for the skin, but they are also a great way to save money at the cosmetic counter.  Home remedies are also free from preservatives, chemicals, and fragrances that can irritate your skin. So before you head to the pricey cosmetics aisle or spa, take a look in the pantry and use some tasty holiday ingredients for something other than a pie.  While you’re at it, make extras of the recipes you like and bottle them to give to your friends for the holidays. Everyone loves a little pampering!

Before you throw away your leftover Halloween and Thanksgiving pumpkins, try making this soothing pumpkin and honey facial.  This mask hydrates the skin and helps reduce redness.  It’s inexpensive and simple to make and also works great with sensitive skin.

What you’ll neeed:

  • 1/4 cup pumpkin pulp (from pumpkin or a can)
  • 1 tablespoon honey

How to:

  • Combine pumpkin and honey in a bowl until the consistency is smooth.  For best mixing results, heat the honey in the microwave for 10 seconds before combining with the pumpkin.
  • Apply to face and neck for 20 minutes, then rinse.
  • Appreciate the beautiful, smooth skin you’re left with.

It forces you to try and remember why you bought a food or beverage that you don’t know what to do with, and gives you the opportunity to find a way to use it. The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
