Walmart and are great places to do your Christmas Shopping and tackle that holiday gift list. You can find almost everything you need and get some great bargains. Still, not everything at Walmart is a great deal, so it helps to know a few Walmart shopping secrets.

Here is a guide on how you can shop at Walmart for the holidays and save big.

Look for individual deals

One of Walmart’s strengths as a store is its low prices. But some of this is the perception of the customer. As a new customer, you go in and see incredible prices on a few hot items and then assume that everything in the store is equally priced at a bargain. That simply isn’t true. Comparison shopping may show you that you can get an item somewhere else for less.

That is why it is important to go for the individual bargains at Walmart. Choose those items that are deeply discounted. Scour the Walmart ad to find the deals and note the sales dates. You may find that a good deal is only available for a limited time.

Usually the best deals are on the hottest or trendiest items.

Take advantage of price matching

Walmart is usually wonderful at price matching. This means that if you spot an item on sale somewhere else, you can bring proof of that price into Walmart and they will match the lower price. This makes shopping at Walmart very convenient. You can scoput out the deals ahead of time and just make one trip for everything on your list. You can even bring in Internet ads for price matching opportunities, as long as the store are recognized ones.

The other day while I was shopping at Walmart, I witnesses two different customers shopping for the same Wii Fit Plus bundle. One got it at the regular Walmart price while the other got it at $50 off because they had an ad from another store.

Use Ship to Store

Walmart offers Ship to Store on most of its products when you shop online. Not only is this a convenient way to shop, but you can usually get better deals when you shop online at Walmart. The prices may be better to make up for shipping costs (which you won’t pay when you take advantage of Ship to Store) and you can also apply coupon codes online to get even deeper discounts.

With Walmart’s Ship to Store, you can also be sure that the product won’t be sold out when you get to the store.

Happy Holidays!

Good Tip: Saving money is important – especially if you have a lot of expenses like bills to pay, loans to pay off, and all the other things that drain your bank account. Figuring out a way to save money can feel tedious to some, and like a punishment to others. U.S. News suggests that you try one of these money saving challenges. The “No Eating Out for a Month” Challenge This one is self-explanatory. The goal is to avoid eating out for an entire month. This might be super easy for people who enjoy making meals at home. People who really enjoy dining out, or ordering food to be sent to their home, may struggle with this one. It’s worth a try because spending money on take-out is more expensive than buying groceries. The Pantry Challenge This one is a variation of the “No Eating Out for a Month” challenge. The goal is to use up all of your groceries before you buy more. It forces you to try and remember why you bought a food or beverage that you don’t know what to do with, and gives you the opportunity to find a way to use it. The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
