‘Tis the season to be shopping, and Amazon.com is a great source for many of your gift needs this season. There are a few tips that savvy Amazon shoppers use in order to save the absolute most money that they possibly can.

If you are going to shop for Christmas or holiday gifts at Amazon.com, you’ll want to read all about how to save.

Compare prices

I used to just assume Amazon.com had the lowest prices. After all, every time I went shopping online, the Amazon price was at or below prices elsewhere. This year, that seems to have changed a little bit, as other online retail stores are finally catching on with even better deals on really hot items.

For most products, Amazon is still going to be the go to store for low prices, but compare before you check out. You may find that Walmart, Target, Kohl’s or other stores are slightly better with pricing this time of year.

Rock the toy deals

Each day on Amazon this holiday season, there seems to be several great new toy deals available on both classic and trendy toys. I’ve seen amazing discounts on Play Doh, The Littlest Pet Shop, Crayola, Little People and more. Search the toy section and sort products by price to see some amazing deals. One thing I will say is that not many of these items last very long. Sometimes they are gone before you get to check out, so pounce on any must have items.

Get free shipping

At Amazon, you can get free shipping on most items, if your purchase totals more than $25. Take advantage of this policy and use it to your advantage. You can also get free shipping on any amount order when you sign up for Amazon Prime or Amazon Mom. With Amazon Prime, you can get a trial membership that won’t cost you a dime unless you decide to renew it. Amazon Prime gets you free 2-day shipping, an important advantage during the holidays. With Amazon Mom, frequent baby related purchases keeps your shipping free.

Daily deals

Don’t forget to check out the daily deals on Amazon. With the holiday season here, many of the daily discounted deals are very much gift-worthy, especially for the men in my life. There is one main deal, with several other deals being made available throughout the day. Once a deal is sold out, it is gone for that price. Amazon lets you keep track of the availability of the daily deals, as well as hints about future deals, making it easy to  know when you should pounce on a great bargain.

Good Tip: Saving money is important – especially if you have a lot of expenses like bills to pay, loans to pay off, and all the other things that drain your bank account. Figuring out a way to save money can feel tedious to some, and like a punishment to others. U.S. News suggests that you try one of these money saving challenges. The “No Eating Out for a Month” Challenge This one is self-explanatory. The goal is to avoid eating out for an entire month. This might be super easy for people who enjoy making meals at home. People who really enjoy dining out, or ordering food to be sent to their home, may struggle with this one. It’s worth a try because spending money on take-out is more expensive than buying groceries. The Pantry Challenge This one is a variation of the “No Eating Out for a Month” challenge. The goal is to use up all of your groceries before you buy more. It forces you to try and remember why you bought a food or beverage that you don’t know what to do with, and gives you the opportunity to find a way to use it. The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
