First of all, I just wanted to thank namek303 for telling us about this great coupon. You can use it to get 40% off your entire purchase at Reebok, Rockport and Greg Norman outlet stores. You don’t have to jump through hoops and buy a certain style or color for this deal. Just pick out everything you want and then get a 40% off of the total.

It is part of the Reebok Friends and Families event that takes place from yesterday through June 7th. I’m so excited about this one because it is about that time when the kids sneakers are heaving their last sighs, and it is either buy new ones or make them go barefoot all summer. I was planning on hitting the outlet stores anyway, because they are the easiest way to go when you have to outfit many people at once.

By the way, do you know the best tips for shopping at outlet stores? Here are mine, but please add your own in the comment section. Maybe we could get a real chain of tips going.

Go prepared to shop. This means wear your walking shoes (or sneakers) and carry as little extra stuff as possible, since there is a lot of walking. If you have a friend or spouse coming with you, he or she may be able to pull the car around to where you are while you watch the bags. Then you can offload them.

Look carefully at the prices. While outlets are usually a lot cheaper, this isn’t always the case with all stores and all items. So have an idea of what things normally cost by browsing the regular mall the day before if you can.

Grab quickly. Outlet shops often have just a few of the same items, especially when it comes to sizes and eagel-eyed shoppers can be quick. I remember finding a perfect Eddie Bauer Home blanket for our bed. As I was checking out with it, a previous customer came back hoping to purchase it. Her loss was my gain.

Take advantage of outlet stores for classic clothing pieces and classic items for your home. Classics won’t go out of style, so you can stock up. Some examples of this are basic t-shirts and turtle necks.

Look for special outlet days so you can save even more!

Love ya,
Marnie

Good Tip: Saving money is important – especially if you have a lot of expenses like bills to pay, loans to pay off, and all the other things that drain your bank account. Figuring out a way to save money can feel tedious to some, and like a punishment to others. U.S. News suggests that you try one of these money saving challenges. The “No Eating Out for a Month” Challenge This one is self-explanatory. The goal is to avoid eating out for an entire month. This might be super easy for people who enjoy making meals at home. People who really enjoy dining out, or ordering food to be sent to their home, may struggle with this one. It’s worth a try because spending money on take-out is more expensive than buying groceries. The Pantry Challenge This one is a variation of the “No Eating Out for a Month” challenge. The goal is to use up all of your groceries before you buy more. It forces you to try and remember why you bought a food or beverage that you don’t know what to do with, and gives you the opportunity to find a way to use it. The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
