Are we in luck! Usually, there are no coupons in the paper the Sunday after Thanksgiving. But this weekend, we have a Proctor and Gamble Brandsaver insert on Sunday, 11/30/2008 in most major newspapers. See what is included at the end of this article.

The best news for coupon clippers who are caught up in the seasonal shopping frenzy is that KMART is continuing to double manufacturer’s coupons up to $2 NATIONWIDE during the week of 11/30-12/6! There are some restrictions – you may purchase 4 of the same items with coupons and the doubling does not apply to buy 1 get 1 free promotions. Kmart will NOT accept internet printed coupons. Still, in a large store like this, it really saves time and gives you extra savings while you are Christmas shopping. This is great news for folks who live in the land of no double coupons ever.

Here are some possible combinations:

You could use the .40 coupon that appeared in the 11/16 Smartsource insert for Betty Crocker Cookie Mix. Kmart has these on sale for 2 for $3. If you have one coupon, your final cost is 2 for $2.20. If you have two coupons for the two items, (remember, only one can be doubled) your final cost is $1.80. That is 90 cents a package instead of $1.50 a package! Kmart is giving $5 off any combination of 3 Tide, Downy, Luvs, Bounty, or Charmin items. If you use coupons for these you will realize extra savings. As we say in coupon trader circles, YMMV – Your Mileage May Vary – on how many coupons you can stack with in store promotions, and how the doubling will work.

Good Tip: Saving money is important – especially if you have a lot of expenses like bills to pay, loans to pay off, and all the other things that drain your bank account. Figuring out a way to save money can feel tedious to some, and like a punishment to others. U.S. News suggests that you try one of these money saving challenges. The “No Eating Out for a Month” Challenge This one is self-explanatory. The goal is to avoid eating out for an entire month. This might be super easy for people who enjoy making meals at home. People who really enjoy dining out, or ordering food to be sent to their home, may struggle with this one. It’s worth a try because spending money on take-out is more expensive than buying groceries. The Pantry Challenge This one is a variation of the “No Eating Out for a Month” challenge. The goal is to use up all of your groceries before you buy more. It forces you to try and remember why you bought a food or beverage that you don’t know what to do with, and gives you the opportunity to find a way to use it. The one exemption to this challenge is the foods that have expired. Don’t eat them! Throw them in the trash. The “No Spend” Challenge Make a goal to avoid spending money during an entire weekend. The only exemption in this challenge is that you are allowed to pay bills. This challenge is interesting because it requires creativity. You must be creative and find workarounds for problems that you would typically solve by spending money. You may have a different outlook on spending after finishing this challenge.
