Coupon Counterfeiter Caught!
A computer security student is facing federal charges for allegedly creating and distributing phony coupons. The coupons covered everything from video game systems to groceries. Many of these fake vouchers included high value coupons for Tide laundry detergent that cost the company behind the brand, Proctor & Gamble, an estimated $200,000 for coupons they didn’t issue.
The pretend coupons were designed to look like SmartSource printable coupons and could still be out there circulating, so be careful if you trade coupons or order them through a coupon clipping service.
Other notable fake coupons from the stash include Campbell’s, Powerbars and various frozen dinners.
