Halloween and Fall Freebie Fun

Whether you celebrate Halloween or just the season of fall, there are plenty of freebies and fun Internet activities out there to keep you occupied at zero cost. Here are some of my favorites.

The Toy Maker Halloween Town

The Toy Maker is a little known web site that is really one of those gems on the Internet. The artist created all sorts of paper toys that can be printed out and put together. These toys are ingenious in their design and just lovely with their colors. Last year I printed out the Ghost Show for the kids in my son’s class. There are cards, treat bags, a candy corn box, a dancing skeleton and more.

Pumpkin Carving Templates

Getting a great looking carved pumpkin isn’t as hard as it looks when you follow a pre-made template. Templates are wonderful for someone like me who always creates jack o lanterns that always look like the sphinx, since inevitably a nose or something accidentally gets carved off.

Family Fun is offering a bunch of free pumpkin carving patterns, as well as some unique carving ideas such as the Marshmallow man Jack-o-Lantern. Check out the Tiki pumpkin carving pattern.

DLTK offers plenty of whimsical and non-scary patterns to carve. They even have a pumpkin carving pattern for Scooby-Do and one for Blue from Blue’s Clues!

Ben & Jerry’s Halloween

The scrolling Halloween scene offers plenty of fun. You can visit the flavor graveyard, do some virtual pumpkin carving, look up recipes, print out games, and play virtual games such as the Undead Smackdown (It is all about the zombies, isn’t it?).

Halloween Coloring Pages

There are so many Halloween coloring pages out there, that you are sure to find something to keep the kids occupied, no matter what their ages. We usually go trick-or-treating with other friends in a group. I like to keep some of these around for when kids are getting into costumes before going out. It keeps the ones that already have their costumes on busy so we can get the rest of them dressed.

Thanks to all of the free magazine subscriptions that are available, there really is no need to ever buy any. There are exceptions, of course, since some magazines are never offered for free, but chances are pretty good that the one you want will be offered at some point in time for free. Walmart Free Samples for October 7th

Get ready to fill those mailboxes again. I think my supply of boxed free samples from Walmart is running low, so I thought I would go ahead and check out what is current available to request.

But before I give you the scoop and the links, I wanted to mention those restaurant coupon booklets again. I had to run all over town trying to find the McDonald’s ones. Apparently they are selling out fast, so keep that in mind and get yours as soon as you can. I bought a bunch for my kids and the kids in the neighborhood.

Okay on to the Walmart free samples.

Emergen-C

Just in time for cold and flu season is the first sample from Walmart, Emergen-C supplement. You can get two free samples in one shot. You get the multivitamin in Cherry Pomegranate, and you also get a sample of the fizzy drink mix in pink lemonade.

GoodNites

GoodNites Underpants is offering both a sample of the product as well as a lot of information about battling bedwetting. And even if you don’t have a child who is overcoming this issue, the GoodNites can also be used for a younger child who may be outgrowing the size 5 diapers.

Prilosec

With all of those Halloween and fall treats, you might find yourself needing a little heartburn relief. I know that apple cider always triggers heart burn in my husband. Click on the floating balloon to get your free sample.

New Coupon Calendars

Isn’t it wonderful the number of ways that we can get free coupons? We have printable coupons, online coupon codes, Sunday insert coupons, and even coupon booklets we can get in the mail. There are coupons found in magazines, too.

Actually, individual stores are now getting into the act, with magazines that not only contain great articles but also give you lots of store specific coupons. And you know what else? Lately there has been another source: manufacture coupon calendars!

Here are some of the current offers out there.

Hershey’s is offering a free baking calendar. It is packed with both recipes and coupons, two of my favorite things. Of course, you also get the calendar itself. For this offer, you will need to send in four proof of purchases. Honestly, I found the proof of purchases just in my pantry. Go to Hersheys.com for details.

Walmart and Nestle are offering a “Back to School” savings calendar that contains $20 worth of various manufacturer coupons for products such as Juicy Juice, Hot Pockets and Stouffers Lasagna. There is still time to get this coupon calendar.

Also in the back to school theme is Nabisco. They are offering a calendar with a whopping $55 worth of coupons on everything from Chips Ahoy cookies to Capri Sun juice pouches. You’ll get savings throughout the year.

As a bonus, make sure to look for a couple of coupon booklets and magazines out there. The first is Walgreen’s ABC’s Coupon Booklet and the second is CVS’s Reinventing Beauty Magazine (this one costs $.99)

Getting Things Free with Printable Coupons

FreeCoupons! FreeCoupons! Rah, Rah, Rah! Sorry, I am just so excited about some of the new features on the site. The forums for instance. They will be a great way to meet you and another way to share the hottest deals in real time.

Today, I want to focus on some current offers that allow you to get items for free when you use printable coupons. Sometimes you will get a coupon that is for a completely free product almost anywhere. Other times, you have to do a little clever shopping at the right store with that coupon.

As you get more and more involved in doing all of the deals both online and off, you’ll find it easier and easier to coordinate the deals on your own, using the sales, rebates, online coupon codes and printable coupons. (And when you do, I hope you’ll share your finds with me.) Meanwhile, here are some current deals that you can work right now!

There is a printable coupon out for YoBaby 3-in-1 Meals for $1 off of 1. Well, guess what? Walmart has this product at $1. So if you use the coupon, it will be free! And, its organic, too.

Here is an easy one for Target. They have a printable store coupon for $1/2 Market Pantry cheese. Get two of the .50 string cheese, and you’ll get them for free. And some more tips: Use this strategy with other items at Target. You can often apply the coupons to their smallest sizes for free products. Also, did you know that you can print the Target store coupons right in the store itself? Save yourself the printer paper and ink.

Quiznos has a printable coupon out there for a free sub when you buy another sub and a drink. Here you go.

Eight Ways to Get Free Groceries

Who doesn’t love free groceries? Here are eight ways that you can score some for free.

Use coupon codes and coupon links

Yes, there are coupon codes for all sorts of things, including groceries! The trick here is to buy your groceries online, trying out different stores. Many stores will give you free groceries for trying out the online shopping process. Here are two that I know about: Peapod (use coupon code CJN10) and Safeway (right now they are offering free kraft singles and free Eating Right Salad Dressing with purchase, as well as free shipping).

Combine a sale with a coupon

As soon as you get your grocery sales flyer, scan it for the loss leader sales. Then go through your coupons to see if you can match a coupon with a sale. Many times the item will wind up being free, so stock up.

Combine a store coupon with a manufacturer coupon

Another way of getting free groceries is to combine a store coupon with a manufacturer’s coupon. The combination of the two usually makes for a free item, and if you have multiple coupons, you can score multiple deals. The other day at Target, I got an entire bag of groceries for a little more than $2.

Use a coupon on a trial or travel size

It is usually a good idea to use a coupon on the smallest size product that is allowable. If your $1 off (or higher value) coupon does not have a minimum size stated, see if your store offers that product in a trial or travel size. These small sizes are usually grouped together, and you can get a bunch of these for free.

Get gift cards, register rewards or extra care bucks

Target, CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid offer incentives to shop in the form of free gift cards, register rewards and extra care bucks. This is money back when you buy a particular product, often the same amount as the product costs, making it free!

Take advantage of rebates

Look for “Try Me Free” and “Satisfaction Guaranteed” rebate offers. These rebates will allow you to purchase the product and then get the full purchase price back from the manufacturer.

Sign up for free samples

While we often think of free samples as trial size products, there are quite a few out there that offer full size products, or a coupon for a free full sized product. Today, I tweeted about how you can get a full size bottle of barbecue sauce!

Think about gardening

Finally, if you can garden, then you will be able to have a bounty of produce for practically free (you can get free seed offers, but I am assuming that you might spend some small amount on your garden. If you don’t garden, make it known to friends and coworkers that you are available to take their extra bounty. People just love giving away their tomatoes and zucchini!

With things being the way they are, shopping at Walmart can be a pretty good deal, especially when you get things for free. Here is a collection of Walmart products that you can get for free, either online or in the store.

Vitamin Water is $1. Use the $1 off coupon from the 4/5 Sunday insert.

Ben Gay moist pads are on clearance for $1.50. Use the a $2 blinkie nearby.

Dove Deodorant is $.97. Use the $1/1 coupon from the 6/7 Sunday insert.

Organix shampoo and conditioners have a hang tang on them that makes the products free.

Schick disposable razors are $1.97. Use the $2 coupon from the 6/21 Sunday insert.

Reduce the cost of eating out with your family when you choose a restaurant, a promotion or a coupon that entitles your kids to eat free. Now you won’t have to complain about spending $6 for that macaroni and cheese that gets left on the plate.

By the way, most restaurants that offer a kids eat free night usually have it on Tuesday evenings, so try to time your day to eat out then, if you want to take advantage of this.
Some restaurants are very secretive about their kids eat free programs, and the programs may vary according to the store location. The best thing to do in this situation is to simply call ahead and ask. Chik-fil-a is one such restaurant.

Here are some current “Kids Eat Free” deals.

IHOP

Now through September 13th, kids can eat free every night as long as you purchase and adult entree. One free kids meal per adult entree, and you must dine between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Denny’s

At Denny’s time your dinner for Tuesday, and in some locations, Saturday evening. Kids can eat free from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with the purchase of an adult entree.

Applebees

Kids can eat free here on Mondays with the purchase of an adult entree. Two adult entrees mean two free kids meals. What I love about this restaurant is that each additional kids meal is only $1. Unlike other promotions, no one needs to be left out. I’ve done this during lunch, so it isn’t just evening hours.

CiCis Pizza

My eldest son wanted to visit a CiCis as soon as he saw the commercials on television. We finally found one when we were out in Lancaster. This buffet style pizza and pasta place offers free meals to anyone who is three and under. They also have some days were older kids eat free, but it varies by location, so you will need to call ahead. Another great thing about this restaurant is that they offer water for free, so you can curb the soft drink expense.
