Target’s Updated Coupon Policy

Posted on Friday, June 17th, 2011 at 4:12 pm

Attention Target shoppers! As of this month, Target has updated their coupon policy, so take note! Their coupon policy update specifically regards Buy One Get One (BOGO) coupons and internet coupons.

BOGO Coupons

  • You cannot combine BOGO coupons.  This means that you cannot use two BOGO coupons on two items and get them both for free.
  • You cannot use a second cents-off coupon of the same type cannot towards the purchase price of the first item. HOWEVER, if you use a Target BOGO coupon, you may also use a manufacturer coupon towards the price of the first item.  Similarly, if you use a manufacturer BOGO coupon, you may use a Target coupon towards the price of the first item.

Internet (Printable) Coupons

  • Target will not accept internet coupons for free items without purchase requirements. What this means is that you can not use free product coupons that are printed from the web. Free product coupons that you clip from the Sunday inserts or get by mail will still be accepted.

As always, it’s important to understand a store’s coupon policy, so make sure to read over Target’s updated coupon policy.  It may also be helpful to print it out and bring it with you to the store in case cashiers aren’t up to date on it yet.

What do you think about the changes? We’ve been having a discussion on the FreeCoupons Facebook page about how the Extreme Couponing show may be leading to all of these changes in store coupon policies. Join in!
