When it comes to the hottest Black Friday deals in the stores, you know that you’ll need to get there early. But just how early? Should you line up a few hours before or camp out overnight? The answer is probably not one that you want to hear.
For the regular good deals, arriving early to the store may be just a matter of somewhere within an hour or two of opening, so you can take advantage of a good door buster deal, but when it comes to the truly amazing deals, such as 60% off of a new model HDTV, you better be willing to sacrifice some sleep.
Best Buy was notorious for having some slamming deals. In recent years, patrons started camping out on Wednesday night to make sure that they got what they wanted. With stock limited to only 5-10 items for the hottest products, doing this seems like it is going to be necessary for many stores.
It also helps to know what the store and mall policies are about arriving early. Some stores will tell you that they will hand out the product tickets at a certain time. This can help you determine when to arrive. You can also get a clue when you arrive. If there are already 25 people ahead of you looking for that same item, you may want to cut your losses and move on.
Some stores will open their doors as early as 12:01 on Friday morning. And so do many malls. In fact, they may even reward you for shopping early with extra coupons and discounts. The nice thing about the malls is that you can often camp out inside, out of the cold.
Only you can decide if camping out or arriving super early to a store is worth the hassle.
If you do decide to spend hours waiting in line, here are some tips:
Bring a buddy or two. This will help if you need a bathroom break or other time away from the line.
Dress warmly. Even if the weather doesn’t seem to bad at first, it could get colder.
Bring everything you need to be comfortable. That may include a chair, a blanket and a cooler filled with food.
Line up someone who can visit you on the line with extra supplies if you need them.
