Happy New Year! Five Sunday Inserts This Weekend

Posted on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 at 10:21 pm

Well, this is the way to start the new year – with a lot of coupons!  I hope you cleaned out all your expired ones and used them for great savings the last few days.  Our list is here. There are five inserts this Sunday, three Smart Source and two Red Plum.  It’s definitely a Sunday to buy extra newspapers.  You’ll find coupons for Campbell’s soup, Progresso, Frito Lay, and a $2.50 coupon for Finish Quantum Gelpacs or Powerball Tabs for dishwashers.

Look to see deals with the Finish coupons.  These are great for buy one get one free offers.  You can usually wind up getting it for free, or near free.  I stocked up when they offered these last summer, and will stock up again.

Walgreen’s will have Finish on sale next week for $3.49 and are offering a $1 register reward.  Use the $2.50 coupon and you’ll spend .99 out of pocket and receive a $1 register reward.  Now that is my kind of shopping!  I’m hoping that they are not totally out of this by Sunday morning.

I’ll be blogging about coupon matchups for this Sunday’s coupons in blogs later next week.  For now, have a safe and happy new year!

Find Special Deals on Facebook

Posted on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009 at 11:12 pm

There are more companies getting interested in Facebook for their promotions and giveaways.  The Stacy’s Pita Chips free bag giveaway is now closed.  If you were lucky enough to become a fan of Stacys you’ll receive your coupon for a free bag in the mail in January.

More companies are jumping in, and finding that Facebook is a great way to learn who is paying attention to their product – and who will spread the word.

Right now on Facebook, you can get a coupon for a free pint of International Delight Creamer. Become a fan, and click on the tab that says “Holiday Giveaway” and fill in the form.

Get a coupon for $1 off Jimmy Dean Sausage on Facebook.  Click “become a fan” and enter your email.  They’ll email you a confirmation code, which you’ll then log back onto Facebook with and enter by clicking the become a fan link again.  Take it to Walmart, where the sausage is on sale for $2.

Why do manufacturers and retailers want you to be a fan on facebok?  It’s easy – the power of multiple social networks.  When you become a fan of a page for a product or service, it’s posted to your profile.  Your friends see the link, and think it might be a good idea.  So they then become “fans”.

Sometimes these sign ups, when they involve a free coupon, mean that you give your email or your snail mail address.  The company then knows who is interested in their product, who is buying it, and where. This is an incredible amount of market research that is accomplished very quickly, cheaply, and efficiently.  It is very targeted.

So it is a win-win. I like it, because I connect with friends a lot on Facebook, and I enjoy sharing deals among friends!

No Coupon Inserts, But Great Deals in Stores!

Posted on Friday, December 18th, 2009 at 11:59 am

There are no coupons in the paper this weekend, as this is one of the times that manufacturers take a vacation.  There will be a P&G insert Dec 27.  Never fear, they usually start off January with a huge push, so you’ll have lots to clip later.  Meantime, enjoy the holidays and catch up on your clipping, organizing, and weeding out.  A lot of coupons expire December 31.

You have some great deals coming up.  On Dec 20, CVS has Nivea Body Wash going on sale for $5.99, with a $5 ECB.  Use the $2 coupon here to make the deal even better.

At RiteAid, Prell Shampoo is .99 starting Saturday.  There is a $2 Single Check Rebate (limit 5).  So buy 5 for .99, and submit the rebates, and you will pocket $5!.  It will also count toward the total for the free Gift of Savings gift card.

I got a great deal on Amazon.  I did a lot of Christmas shopping there, and signed up for a free membership in Amazon Prime. I bought a DVD, and got an email that they gave me a $5 gift credit to use on other videos!  I thought this was a nice “Christmas present” since even at this late date I am not done with my shopping.

You can continue to get some great grocery deals at Amazon.  Check out the savings here.

At Safeway, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes are .99 each.  You must buy 4.  Use the Kellogg’s coupons from the 12/13 Red Plum, and the coupons.com coupon for $1.50 off any store brand coffee when you buy three Kellogg’s cereals.  Find a $1 coupon for Kellogg’s Corn Flakes Touch of Honey cereal at coupons.com as well.

Check out our forums for great discussions on couponing.

Great Online Deals in Recent Coupons

Posted on Thursday, December 17th, 2009 at 6:48 pm

It really pays to keep checking our recent coupon list. Many of the online coupon offers are very short dated, in time for last minute holiday shopping.  It’s likely your order won’t arrive in time for Christmas from some stores, but a note under the tree to expect a nice present will still be appreciated.  Some of the larger stores will still ship with arrival by Christmas if you order by the 21st.  Check each store site for deadlines.  And you can save big. Just as Black Friday started early, it seems that the “after Christmas” season is gearing up.

Check offers from 6PM.com every day in our new coupons section.  They have “today only” offers.  You’ll also find short dated offers from Sears, Buy.com, and SmartBargains.com.  Sears has some very good discounts on exercise equipment, but they expire December 19.

Many special deals expire December 31 or before.  And there are new coupons added every day.

I’m especially excited about the great Amazon deals that appear in our new coupons section.  These are grocery deals, with free shipping.  It’s a great opportunity for you to buy staples in bulk, and get extra savings.

You can still order e-gift cards from some stores. If you are really late, that’s probably the best way to give someone the flexibility of spending on what they want, and take advantage of savings after Christmas!
