This is a big coupon weekend for newspapers, so be sure to get extras. There are two smart source inserts, a Red plum, a PG Brandsaver – AND a special Kellogg’s/Keebler flyer in select newspapers with a $10 rebate form. Don’t miss this one! See our PDF list of coupons featured this weekend here.

If you are in an area where there is a RiteAid, you might want to buy your extra papers there on Sunday. One of the single check rebates is for a free “Glam Bag” with free samples inside when you purchase three of the listed products: Sally Hansen, Loves’, Phisoderm, Maybelline, Clearasil, Veet, got2b, New York Color. If you’re in need of some new nail polish, the New York Color products are only 99 cents a bottle, making that your cheapest choice to qualify.

August continues to have good things at CVS. The first time you use your ExtraCare card in August you will get a coupon for a free gift at the bottom of your receipt. It will be fun to see what this turns out to be – I intend to take advantage of the ECB’s on Finish/Electrasol and use my remaining $2.50 coupons from The July 12 Smart Source. These expire August 9. The deal at CVS is to buy $20 of a group of products featuring Electrasol and Lysol items, and get $10 ExtraCare Bucks. Woo Hoo!

Speaking of coupons expiring August 9, take advantage of the Axe deal for a free movie ticket at Walgreens. Print the $1.50 coupon at Smartsource, and use the $1.00 and $1.50 coupons that appeared in Red Plum 5/17. These expire August 9. For three products you will get one free movie ticket, and for 5 you will get 2 free movie tickets.

Very smart, those Walmart people.

But then, if you are the world’s largest retailer, and you are supporting local schools, smart is just part of everything you do!

You may have seen folks standing outside of Walmart, collecting supplies for local school children. The idea is that you’ll buy your donations at Walmart. And they make it SO easy and affordable.

Many local Walmarts are displaying school supply lists from local schools, and on their website you can search for lists uploaded by local teachers. There is an entire back to school section here. You’ll find sales, links to Boxtops for Education and Campbells Labels for Education, and a Barnes and Noble search engine for textbooks.

This week’s sale of a limited supply of Compaq Presario laptops for $298 undoubtedly brought traffic into the store. And while you were there, whether you needed school supplies or not, you could find Crayola 24 pack Crayons, Elmer’s 4 oz washable glue, Elmer’s 2 pack washable glue sticks for 25 cents each. Assorted packs of Crayola markers and pencils, bic pens are just $1 each. Then there’s the 15 cent spiral notebooks and 2 pocket folders. Add this to a price rollback on Texas Instruments T130Xa scientific calculator for $9, Trapper folders for 50 cents each, and $2 Avery 1 inch binders, and a host of other savings, and you’ve got a quick sale and a very easy donation to a local school. If you are shopping for your own child, Walmart makes it very easy for you to find affordable supplies, and your teacher’s list right there.

Yup, they’ve figured it out. They’ve got the supplies at great prices, and if you forgot your list or are not sure what the teacher wants your child to have, well, they’ve taken care of that too.

CVS’s flyer for many areas shows some incredible Extra Care Buck (ECB) deals.  When you combine these with coupons, you will have the item for free, or for small change – and ECBs too!

Here’s one I am excited about: $10 ECBs when you buy $20 worth of Electrasol/Finish, Resolve, Woolite (2/$9), Lysol or airwick 2/$6, or lysol spray 2/$8.  LIMIT 1.

Yes, you’re getting ECBs for Electrasol/Finish, WHILE THE $2.50 coupon is still good!. And there’s lysol – plenty of coupons for that.

Here’s how this could break down, if you’ve been saving inserts and have several of the $2.50 coupon which expires August 9.

2 Electrasol =$9

Lysol Neutra air 10 oz = $6
2 Lysol disinfectant = $6
Total $21
-$1.50 (Two .75 cent coupons ss 6/7
-$5 (2 $2.50 electrasol coupons_ ss 7/12/2009
-$3 (2 $1.50 coupons ss 7/12/2009)

Grand total $11.50
You get $10 ECBs.

Now, go back.

A gallon of whole, fat free, 1% or 2% milk is $2.79

Don’t you just love saving at CVS?   There’s lots more – over $100 ECBs this week. Match them to your coupons and save big!  Match it up any way you like, with coupons and sales, and you will get lots of ECBS and totally free stuff!  With the above example, you bought $33.79 worth of on sale merchandise for $12.54.  If you are a dedicated ECB saver, and have ECBs to use, your total may be less.

Are you ready to fill that mailbox with lots of goodies? There are some nice ones this week, concerning free cereal. Free cereal is one of my favorite free samples, because it make a great snack for the kids.

Just remember that cereal samples, like magazine subscriptions, tend to go fast.

Just fill out a short form and you’ll get your sample in the mail in just a few weeks. You’ll be asked if you want to sign up for newsletters, but you can opt out of them.

How about a free sample of Fiber One Cereal?

Just fill out a short form to get a Fiber One Cereal sample plus $5 in coupons. It is a double freebie! I have found that Fiber One makes the best raisin bran muffins. Making muffins for breakfast is so economical and tasty!

…And a free sample of Fiber One Caramel Delight Cereal?

Walmart is also offering some free Fiber One, only this sample is for a new flavor. It certainly looks very yummy. This might be a nice way to get a little sweetness with your fiber.

Ooh, a cereal that might actually help me with a fitness plan. You can get your free sample of the new Curves cereal when you sign up for Curves email newsletter called, “Eat Better America.”

There are lots of good coupons in the Sunday paper this week. See our Preview here. There is a Smart Source insert, and a Red Plum insert. Look for some good offers on Dannon products, Post cereals, Speed stick, and some items that don’t have too many coupon promotions. Earth Grains Bread has a 55 cent coupon, and there are several frozen treats that have coupons too. You can stock up on Luigi’s Real Italian Ice and Minute maid frozen novelties. These are a big hit at my house in the summer.

There’s been a lot of buzz on the internet in the past few weeks about using the $2.50 Finish/Electrasol coupon that appeared in the July 12 Smart Source. These have been on sale in various stores for prices around $3.59. Walgreens had small boxes for $2.19, most of these are probably gone by now.

The coupon expires August 9. If you haven’t spent all yours yet, you might want to wait for the CVS sale August 2. Finish will be 2 – 20 ct boxes for $9, and will be part of a group of products that are in a “Spend $20 get $10 Extra Bucks”promotion. This may not apply to your area, but it is worth watching for. Matchups like these are what really save us money. I’ll bet there’s a lot of this diswasher detergent in many of our stockpiles!

Wow, we are getting plenty of these free music downloads. Isn’t it great? MyiTunes is certainly filling up with some great music. I keep playing two of my free favorites over and over again: Bubbly by Coco and 99 Times from Kate Voegele.

Here is another favorite that I would make great dinner music. It is a download of a CD of Christian piano music. You can download five free songs right off the bat, or if you want all ten songs, you can provide the email addresses of three friends and share this freebie. The artist is Greg Howlett, and the CD is Portraits of Hope. Here you go.

Lollapallooza is coming to Chicago in August. In honor of the event, you can get 15 free songs on iTunes to sample from some of the bands that will be performing. You’ll need to go to the iTunes Store and click “Redeem” under the quick links. Then enter to code on the Lollapallooza website, and your download will begin. Here is the link.

There are plenty of free food deals around today, so take advantage of them! Here are the best of the best of what is currently available.

For today only, you can get a free Arby’s Roastburger with any soft drink purchase, even a small size. This sounds like a quick family dinner for very little. Arby’s has a new deal every Wednesday, so if you can’t make this one, be sure to mark your calendar for next week.

Now here is another free food with beverage purchase. This time it is for Baja Fresh. They are giving away a free burrito with the purchase of a regular beverage. You will need a coupon for this one, and you can get it here. The coupon is only good for today.

McAlister’s Deli is giving away free sweet tea, so if you happen to have one of these near you, stop in today. Use their website to find out if there is a McAlister’s near you.

The Corner Bakery is offering a free sweet when you purchase a lunch or dinner entree. Here is the link to the coupon.

The Giant store near me is running a free milk promotion. When you buy four gallons of milk by 8/20, they will give you a fifth one free. You don’t have to buy all four at one trip.

Also, don’t forget that the Entertainment book is only $7.99! With plenty of frees and Buy one get one free fast food and restaurant deals, the book is a good source of free food.

It’s not even August yet, but you can get a head start on stocking up on school supplies now.  There are some incredible deals out there, and you have to watch for them.

Go to Walmart this week for 24 pack crayons for 25 cents, a two pack Elmer Glue Sticks for 25 cents, and a 70 sheet notebook for 15 cents. Find some great rollback specials there at unbelievable prices.

At Staples, take advantage of their rebates.  Buy any backpack, and get your purchase price refunded in Staples Rewards.  These are dollars good on future purchases.  Don’t forget the sales items which qualify for the Staples Easy rebate.  These include Pentel Handy Lines assorted Highlighters; Staples slim line Pencil sharpener; Zebra Cadoozles Mechanical Pencils; and Zebra Sarasa Retractable Gel Pens. Find incredible deals on notebooks, hole punchers, and paper for $1 and $2.

CVS is one of my favorite stores, and this week they do not dissappoint.  They have some deals that are free after ECBs.  For example;

Don’t forget to visit Walgreens, where you will find many great Register Rewards. You’ll find Scotch tape is on sale for 39 cents! Now, if you use the coupon from the July 12 Redplum for $1 off three, you’ve paid only 17 cents for all three!

It may seem like work to bounce around to different stores; but if you think this is difficult, try standing in line at Staples or Walmart in September.

We get a ton of really nice magazines delivered to our home. After we are done reading them, I either pass them on to friends, a local shelter or the recycling bin. Whenever my son’s school is looking for good magazines to use for projects, they know to ask me.

The other day, as I was passing on a box of magazines to a neighbor, she said, “Wow, you must spend hundreds of dollars on magazines.” She almost fell over when I told her that they were all free.

With all of the summer magazine deals going on (you can currently get many one-year subscriptions for $5 or less), it is helpful to know what magazines usually come up as free now and again. Some of these magazines are offered for free frequently, while others may appear as free only once every few years.

I thought it might be helpful to list some of the magazines that I usually don’t have too hard a time finding for free. This way, if you are thinking about subscribing to a magazine, you may want to search for freebies or wait for the freebies to come around again.

There’s only one insert this weekend in the newspapers, and that is a Smartsource.  However, it’s a nice one, with good things.  There’s another free Marcal Small Steps, and the usual cereal coupons.  There are also some Huggies, (including wipes) and $1 off any ten Dannon single serve cups. If your store doubles, that is a good deal.  Find our list for this week here. Remember, not all coupons are available in all areas.
