More Free Food, Sunday Coupons

Oh yum.

The free food continues. Sonic’s free float night is June 3, from 8 pm to closing. They will give you a free 10 oz rootbeer float. And today, Saturday, May 30, from 11-4 participating Walmarts will give out free ice cream treats. Check out the participating stores by zip code.

You’ll find our Sunday insert list in our usual spot. There’s a Redplum and Smart Source insert this weekend. They are not huge, but keep on clipping, keep on saving. Use our pdf insert lists by date to find what coupon is in what insert, if you file by inserts when you go to the store.

Sign up here at Eat Your Best for a printable coupon for $1 off 5 Weight Watchers Smart Ones. When you register, they will send you emails with great coupons. I recently received an email with an additional printable $3 off 10 Smart ones.

I hope you had a great time last weekend. We were in Florida, and it rained and rained. Still, we managed one nice cookout - helped by the buy 1 get one free specials at Publix, including hot dogs and chips! Food stockpiling seems to be especially important in the summer months, with kids home from school and college, and family gatherings. seems like I am always feeding someone! All told, we had a group of 10, and enjoyed the barbecue, watching the skies.

Now we’re into end of the year graduation/wedding season - time to enjoy our families, and for some of us, get the kids ready for college! That’s another reason I like this hobby - I know people who routinely send “care packages” to college - but not actual food - coupons for free food, and restaurant deals. The students really appreciate it!

How to Use Online Coupons

Using online links and online coupons is a great way to save money. I thought I would put together some tips on using online coupons in case you are new to online coupons or just want to review some advice on getting the most out of online savings.

When shopping online, there are two ways to take advantage of online coupons. You may already know which store or product that you want to purchase. Search for coupon links and coupon codes according to the store brand. You’ll often find free shipping deals as well as percentages or dollars off your general purchase. You can also browse through current lists of coupon deals to see if there are any hot promotions. Many times you can find limited time offers, such as free products, free gift cards or even 80 percent off deals that only last for a day or two. This is helpful if you have an idea of what you want but aren’t sure exactly where or when to shop.

There are two ways to get a discount with online coupons. The first is by using a coupon code. You simply enter the coupon code when you are checking out at the online store to get the deal. There are also “silent” coupons or coupon links. The coupon gets activated when you click on a special link. You may not see any acknowledgment of the coupon until you put an item in your cart or start to check out of the online store.

Check if multiple coupons or offers can be used in one purchase. Being able to combine or stack coupon codes and deals can give you the best savings. For example, you may be able to combine a free shipping code with a 10 percent off code. Stores that allow stacking will allow you to enter multiple codes or combine a coupon link with a coupon code. I try to alert everyone to stacking deals in the FreeCoupons blog when I find them.

Sometimes coupon codes and deals expire unexpectedly. It may because a lot of people have taken advantage of the deal and the store has reached its limit. Or sometimes the store will make a mistake and give a bigger discount than they intended. So if you see a deal that you really want, jump on it quickly. Verify that you got the deal when you are checking out in case it didn’t apply.

You can’t use a coupon or coupon code after you have checked out. In other words, you can’t apply a coupon to a previous purchase. So make sure that you search for codes before you finalize your checkout process.

Diaper Deal Expiring Soon

Diapers.com has a great deal that will be expiring on June 7th, and it doesn’t look like it will be coming back. The deal is for $10 off an order of diapers , if you are a new customer. You have to use the coupon code AFF10.

Combine this deal for free diapers! Diapers.com is offering Pampers or Huggies Jumbo diapers at only $9.99. The catch is that there is a minimum offer of $49, but the code still means that you get one free package of diapers when you pay for four of them. If you have a baby in size 3 or size 4 diapers then you know that this is a great deal because you can stock up easily on these sizes. (Babies tend to be in these two sizes for a while.) The normal retail price of the jumbo size of Huggies or Pampers is usually $12 to $17.

Check your local dollar or discount store. I’ve found jumbo Pampers and Huggies diapers there for $9.

Check on Criagslist. Many parents sell their unopened diapers there for half or less of retail.

Tips for Shopping at Walmart

Walmart can be a great source of bargains. But do you know all of the tips to get the best prices and the easiest shopping Walmart shopping experience? Here is some experienced advice that will help you save take advantage of all that Walmart has to offer.

Shop in the morning

If your schedule allows it, time your shopping trip to Walmart in the morning. This is when the most experienced sales people and the department managers usually work. Also, the stores are the least crowded at this time, and workers are usually most available from 9 am until 11 am to help you. You will also be the most successful when you ask for extra bargains, floor sample discounts, etc. Since the cashiers are not as harried and the managers are available for questions, the store is more likely to accept printable coupons and competitors lower priced ads.

Use ship to store

Using the ship to store option just makes a lot of sense. Often, you can get all sorts of extra coupon codes and discounts online that are not available in the store (just check out our list of Walmart coupons, here). When I bought the Disney movie Enchanted for my daughter, I saved $5 off of the price in the store by using the ship to store option and then another $3 with a discount code! It doesn’t cost you anything for the ship to store service.

Shop the new stores

Very often when a new Walmart rolls into town, especially a town that is far from another Walmart, the store will lower its standard prices significantly in order to get your business. If you can, find out when a new store opens near you and shop there or at least compare the prices.

Combine with coupons

Walmart accepts most coupons, insert coupons and printables. Combine these coupons with rollback specials and cheap store prices to get many items for pennies or even for free. Walmart carries a lot of sample sizes or smaller packaging, so you can really get get the most out of those high value coupons. Do you remember the Johnson Buddies deal? If you took advantage of that with all of the printable coupons you now have free soap for life.

Special Publix Deals

Just thought I’d give you a brief bulletin on what you can find at Publix this week. While I am in Florida, I’ve been on a freebie spree with friends, and Publix is definitely a place to cash in this weekend.

Publix does not double where we are, but they do have plenty of Buy 1 Get1 Free specials. They accept coupons on both the purchased item and the free one for their own buy 1 get 1 free sales. I used a lot of high value printable coupons. So, my savings looked something like this:

Orville Red Popcorn 2 for $4.89 minus $1 coupon on 2 = 2 for 3.89
Nabisco triscuit - 2 for 3.59 (bought 4)
4 for 7.18 minus 4 $1 coupons = 4 for 3.18

My friend Debbie stocked up on Kellogg’s cereal for $1.99 each, using various printable coupons for $1.00 each. She got free milk from Publix with the purchase - and a few Star Trek Tee proofs to pass along.

Yesterday was torrential rain, and beaches were double red flag, so it was a great day to shop and eat! Today, we’ll be heading for the beaches, as it is sunny.

Free $75 Gift Card Alert and How to Get More Free Gift Cards

Note: The Company Store apparently made an error. They are actually offering a $25 gift card with a $75 purchase. As of today, they have corrected their offer. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted.

Although I usually try to limit the time I spend on the computer when it is Sunday, I just wanted to pop in to tell you about a great deal that was just sent to me. The Company Store is running an unadvertised deal for a free $75 gift certificate to either The Company Store or Company Kids when you spend only $25. They have a summer sale going on right now, so if you concentrate on sale and clearance items, you can really get a lot for that $25.

This deal isn’t mentioned on The Company Store website, but you can get it at checkout when you use this coupon code: AFFGWP9 .

By the way, while we are on the subject of gift cards, did you know that you can get frequent gift cards by participating in test drives at local dealers? A friend of mine does this several times a month and has racked up gift cards to everything from Target to Macys. Sometimes the gift card is a prepaid Visa. Most of the gift cards are worth $50, but my friend tells me that she also gets $100 gift cards.

To find out if there are any test drive opportunities in your area get on the mailing list for the car manufacturers. Just go to their websites and request information or a brochure. You can check your junk mail, listen to the radio and check your local newspaper for test drive opportunities.

Free Food and Free Legos

If you have some furniture shopping or browsing to do, you might want to head over to IKEA today through Monday. That is because the store is offering free breakfast. Each early shopper can get one breakfast plus a coffee for free.

There are some stores that are not honoring this promotion, so give your local IKEA a call to confirm the free breakfast before you head over. It is a $2 value per breakfast. Click here to learn more about this free breakfast deal.

Later in the day, after you have snagged your $1 flip flops, you can head over to Baskin Robbins with a friend (or a kid) and take advantage of this printable coupon that will give you one free 31 below desert when you buy one. This is vanilla soft serve ice cream blended with your favorite candy or cookies (yes, it is like a Dairy Queen Blizzard).

Finally, sign up for some free Legos. An entire kit comes in the mail, and it challenges teachers to create a hands on activity using only the Legos included in the kit. You need to be an educator for this deal, although home schooling parents qualify! Memorial Day Coupons

There are no coupon inserts this Sunday. Happy Memorial day!

This is not to say there aren’t coupons out there. Booklets, free mailers, printables and in store promotions are really making the rounds this weekend. Seems the retailers know we’ll have time to do some shopping - and a family at home that wants to eat.

So instead of directing you to our usual pdf insert list, I’ve come across some booklets and registrations for you to receive coupons and freebies.

I’m in Florida for Memorial Day, and shopping at my favorite Publix. There are a LOT of manufacturer coupons in my local one, including a booklet, “Go Organic for Earth Day” with over $13 worth of coupons inside. These are clearly manufacturer coupons. They are for the following brands: Van’s all natural, Clif Bar/Luna bar products, RW Knudsen Family Juice, Barbara’s Organic cereal, Santa Cruz Organic juice, Stoneyfield Farms, Nature’s Path, Cascadian, Seventh Generation, Organic Valley, Kashi, and other products.

While you’re at Publix, look for Save Money save the Planet, with over $12 in coupons inside. These are “green” products - $1.00 off Clorox Green Works, various coupons for Explorers Bounty coffee, chocolate and snacks, Domino sugar, a Buy 1 Get 1 Free Vitamin Water, $1.00 off Kashi Pizza, and $1.00 coupons for Elations health drink, McCormick Spice, Odwalla Beverage, 75 cents off Smart Balance Milk or Butter Blends, and Silk Soymilk. Only the Odwalla coupon is a publix store coupon. Publix also featured a Buy 1 Get 1 Free new Pedigree Food for Dogs at their front display (expires 7/15/2009). It truly pays to take the extra time and look in the front of the store, and on the tearpads in the aisles.

$1 Old Navy Flip Flops

Old Navy is having its annual flip flop sale tomorrow (Saturday, May 23rd). You can get flip flop pairs for only $1. These flip flops are cute and sturdy enough to last for the whole summer.

There is a limit of five pairs per person, so if you are stocking up for a large family or for gifts, you’ll need to bring along a friend to help. It is important to note that only the sold color flip flops qualify for this deal, so if you want metallics or patterns, you might be better off avoiding the lines and just buying the ones you want online.

Last year, the lines were very long for this deal, so find out when your local Old Navy is opening tomorrow and get there early.
